August 21, 2015 • Telecoms & Mobile

Ghana’s leading 4G LTE network provider, Surfline Communications, is celebrating its first anniversary in grand style with lots of packages for its numerous customers including the  opportunity to own a Surfline MiFi for GHs111.00 only instead of the usual GHs199.00, free 1 GB of data for every active Surfline customer (this is for customers who have been active over the past 90days) and the 3rd surprise is that for the 111th customer to activate a bundle, between 19th and 25th of this month will earn 11GB of data instantly

From a humble beginning a year ago, Surfline has gradually grown to become not only a leading provider of 4G internet solutions, but also a trusted and well respectable brand in Ghana and Africa with a tremendous growth in its customer base, making it a force to reckon with within the competitive marketplace.

Through the dynamic leadership of its Chief Executive Officer, Dr Yaw Akoto, Surfline has raised the bar on both new and existing operators through its commitment to bringing international standards to Ghana by introducing sophisticated experiential stores, superior customer service and incomparable data speeds, hence its nomination as the “Breakthrough LTE Entrant” at AfricaCom in South Africa, and the winner of the “Top Emerging Brand” of the year award at the Top Brands Awards held in Ghana.

These developments are but a few acknowledgements of Surfline Communications’ achievements in leading the 4G LTE revolution in Ghana and the continent of Africa as a whole.

As the first network operator in the country to roll out 4G LTE service, Surfline started its operation in the Greater Accra Region where it ensured the delivery of excellent internet network services coupled with quality products that were durable and affordable . Its consistence in providing customers with regular updates on their internet usage won them the admiration of every internet user in the capital city.

The company’s ambition to deploy 4G LTE mobile network across Ghana got a $15m capital investment boost from DEG – Deutsche Investitions-und Entwicklungsgesellschaft mbH (“DEG”) through a South African leading mezzanine debt provider, Vantage Capital, thus propelling the roll out of 4G LTE mobile network in other regions of the country enabling Surfline to offer high-speed internet connectivity (up to 10 times faster than the average speeds offered by the existing mobile network operators) at a price that is competitive with existing internet service providers.

The expansions, which is in two phases, is geared towards covering major cities such as Takoradi, Kumasi, Cape Coast, Tamale and Ho, and all key municipalities within the country. Once completed, Surfline will boast of 700+ cell sites, making it one of the world’s largest independent LTE networks, an amazing feat for the country’s only telecommunications network that is wholly owned by Ghanaians.

For Ghana’s 1st operator to pioneer 4G LTE and the only institution accredited with the single largest 4G deployment in Africa, the future looks very exciting and promising as it move things into the next level where Surfline goes beyond connectivity to play the role of an aggregator of sorts, that provides relevant content to businesses, individuals, government, development oriented institutions and agencies.
